Laural Clear Glass is made by heating up raw materials like quartz sand, soda ash, dolomite, limestone, and salt cake. Other ingredients can be added to act as colorants, refining agents, or to adjust the glass's properties. These are all mixed in a controlled ratio with the right amount of crushed recycled glass (cullet) and fed into a furnace, where it's heated to around 1500°C.
Once the glass is melted, the temperature is stabilized at about 1200°C to make sure its density is consistent. Then, the molten glass is poured out of the furnace and floats evenly on top of a bath of molten tin. The glass cools down slowly under controlled conditions in a process called annealing. This step is crucial because it allows the glass to be cut and processed later without cracking.
The main types of float glass produced this way include both standard clear float glass and ultra-clear glass.
