Bent tempered glass is produced by heating flat glass to just below its softening temperature (approximately 650°C) and then rapidly cooling it with jets of cold air. This process creates strong compressive stress on the outer surfaces and tensile stress within the interior of the glass. As a result, impacts applied to the glass are resisted by the surface compressive stress, ensuring greater strength and safety during use.
Bent tempered glass is ideal for areas exposed to high wind loads and locations where human contact and safety are important considerations.
