Tinted Float Glass

Laurel Tinted Float Glass is glass that has been colored during manufacturing by adding metal oxides or other colorants, or produced by applying a special tinting film to existing glass; it reduces glare, blocks UV rays, increases privacy, and is commonly used in buildings, vehicles, and decorative applications, making it different from clear glass.

The process of producing tinted float glass begins by adding metal oxides or other colorants directly into the molten glass mixture during manufacturing; as the raw materials melt in the furnace, these additives disperse evenly throughout the glass, creating a consistent color and altering how the glass absorbs and transmits light; after coloring, the molten glass is formed into sheets through the float glass process-where it floats on a bath of molten tin-and then cooled and cut; for film-tinted glass, the process is different: a special adhesive film is applied to the surface of already-made clear glass, the film is pressed to remove air bubbles, then trimmed and cured to bond securely, resulting in glass that provides reduced glare, UV protection, and increased privacy.
