Acid-etched Frosted Glass

Laurel Acid-etched glass is also called frosted glass, opaque glass, or satin etched glass, is made by treating regular float glass with methods like mechanical sandblasting, hand grinding (such as with emery), or chemical processes (like hydrofluoric acid etching) to create a rough, uneven surface that's semi-transparent. Because of its rough texture, acid-etched frosted glass scatters light through diffuse reflection-it lets light through but blocks a clear view. When light hits the uneven surface, it bounces off in all directions, so by the time it reaches your eyes, the image is blurred, and you can't see what's behind the glass. This makes indoor lighting softer and more comfortable. You'll often see acid-etched glass used in office or bathroom doors and windows, though it works well in other rooms too.

When a glass sheet is emulsified, a hydrofluoric acid mixture is used to etch acid into it. This process makes the surface of the glass rough and hazy. Then, through polishing to make the Acid-etched glass in the sand surface translucent, at the same time, the surface becomes smooth and easy to clean. The longer the polishing time, the more glossy the acid-etched glass will be.

The high gloss variant, in particular, is an innovative, glare-free, and writable material often used as a whiteboard. It helps reduce chalk usage and minimizes dust pollution.
