Will glass prices fall in the next few months?
The peak season of glass industry is August of every year. Prices will increase by over 10% during this period.
At the beginning of this year, due to the impact of the pandemic, the demand for glass decreased, and prices fall down a bit. Since March 2020, the virus has been gradually under control and glass costs start to rise sharply. Many customers choose to postpone their orders to avoid this bad increase. But according to latest market analysis, glass prices may not drop significantly in short term.
In 2020, why did the glass price increase so much?
1. Soaring demand for photovoltaic glass
Recently, many countries have been emphasizing the importance of carbon emission reduction and renewable energy, and the proposed planning goals will give photovoltaic glass medium and long-term growth.

2. The demand in real estate and automobile industries is too large, and the production capacity cannot meet the market demand.
This year, real estate projects have accelerated the construction cycle, and the demand for glass curtain walls has increased. With the improvement of living conditions, houses have developed from small windows in the past to floor-to-ceiling windows now, from single-pane glass to double-pane glass and triple-pane glass, all of which have brought continuous growth in glass industry.
3. Increasing of raw material costs
Annealed float glass is the raw material for glass processing and fabrication. Since this April, the price of float glass substrates has risen by over 40%
4. Environmental protection policies
To control the air pollution, coal-fired furnaces are shut down for renovation. And production volume is restricted to ensure environmental protection.
